I’m Meltiiiiiiing!

The Wizard of Oz freaked me out when I was a kid.

The witch.

She MELTED!

And screamed, “I’m meltiiing, I’m meltiiiing!”
while doing so.

Couldn’t she have melted quietly?

I mean, really.

The reason, I am melting,
is because it’s been 34 degrees here lately, with a humidex
that makes it feel like 43.

What’s that in Fahrenheit?

I don’t really know.

Correct me if I’m wrong.

Anyway.

It’s hot.

Today I couldn’t sit in my house, I had to keep moving, ‘cause then at least there was a bit of air flow.

I have no air conditioning.

And there is no breeze.

None what so ever.

So weird for where I live.

So, I’m outside cleaning my barn, and the sweat was just dripping off me.
I seriously had a river running between my boobs.

It was gross.

And I have been trying to weed my garden.

It’s in a very sad state.

I want to take pictures of all the little things growing, but I couldn’t post them. because of the weeds.

Why is it so bad?

’Cause I missed one week of working in it.

One week.

I went camping, and the beginning of that week I was busy with appointments and such,
and so a whole week went by without me out there.

And now I have a jungle.

Well.

It’s not as bad as I have had.

But it bugs me, ‘cause I was really doing a good job this year on my garden!

So, I went out there today to try and get some more done.

’Cause it’s driving me crazy.

I weeded two rows, and then my vision blurred, I got real dizzy and almost fell over.

And I said to my self,

”Self, I think we’re done.  Time to go in.”

So I did.

But, when I got home from soccer tonight at 8:30, I went out there again.

It was cooler, only 28, and I worked until it was dark.

I actually did last night as well.

I’m becoming the “Night Gardener.”

Sounds cool.

”Just call me, the Night Gardener!”

I did get a break from the heat when I went to my Mom’s this afternoon to watch FIFA World Cup.

She has Central Air,
and it is glorious.

But, I don’t know if I’d ever get it.

When I walked into her house I wanted to cry, it was so wonderful.

I had been hot for sooo long.

But here’s the thing.

Walking OUT was torture.

And then I had to go sit on the sideline in the sun and watch the boys play soccer.

With a sleeping three-year-old in my lap.

It was a sweaty mess.

I think if I had Central Air, I would never leave my house.

Ever.

Whereas, now, it’s better outside than in.

At least there is air movement, if not a breeze.

Anyway, that’s my news from today.

Oh, and that it boggles my mind that less than a week ago,
it was so cold after supper that I could see my breath.

And I slept in a coat.

Oh Canada, how I love thee!

But make up your Stinkin’ MIND!

Okay.

Some more pictures of camping.

”The Faces I Love.”

And who belongs to them.

So, it’s not technically his face.
But this is my very favourite cousin, and his daughter.100_9239

There were many more people there, but these happened to be the ones
sitting at the campfire when I brought out my camera.

Almost through posting camping pictures, YAY!

There is still some cute ones to share though.

Off I go to sweat my bed.

Goodnight.

  1. Oh, my Canadian girlfriend...this was a post that is full of smiles (for me). We're that hot too, here in Vermont, except that I had no river b/w my boobs - hahaha - that made me LOL. I can't imagine working out in a barn or a garden in this heat.

I am SO with you about A/C and central air....it's glorious until you have to leave it. We have none - not here, nor there, not anywhere (not in the cars). For the same reasons.

LOVE the photos of your family...what a HUGE batch of brothers and sisters you have!! Oh. My. Goodness.

Now, I wonder if I would be more social if I came from a large family or if I would still be me, I mean I am VERY friendly but only for a short period of time and then it's like someone turned me off...I get exhausted and done. Whatever that is. My mom was the same way...

Looking through the family photos, there are so many who favor your mom and only a few of you who look more like your dad. Isn't that something? Pretty neat. I love looking at people...I'm a people watcher...not in a creepy way, but just a simple admiring kind of way :)

Anyway...great post to visit, today. Our air is suppose to cool off a little bit by the weekend here...so they say, we shall see - hope yours does too...you Night Gardener, you.

Oh...and the wicked witch parts ALWAYS gave me the creeps. The monkeys too.

  2. I don't have a garden, but I do have a lawn that needs to be mowed, and I have been avoiding it because of the heat. I'm just scared. I sweat mowing the lawn when it's only 20 out. 30+? No thank you.

And I had a river of sweat running down my face and back and boobs yesterday and the day before when I was running on my treadmill. Yuck. Every time I breathed a sweat drop would fly off my face.

I am so looking forward to this weekend, it's supposed to be like 25 and down to 15 at nights. YES! XD

  3. I'm sure you echoed. XD It's more fun when you do.

I heart my air conditioner. We've just left it on low, so it's still 25-26 in the house. Not as much of a shock when you leave, but oh so nice to walk into!

I'm pretty sure it's a "would you stop with the freakin' pictures of me!" face. :P And see how we're all in sweaters and wrapped in blankets?!?? Like a week ago?? Craziness.

  4. 'Tis what Canada is. But we love it. We really do.

    Sweaty boobs are awful.

  5. Okay, the first "WE LOVE YOU KATE" made me laugh inside and grin. The second one made me howl hysterically. :D

I like our air conditioner, but I agree that once you have this coolness it's hard to leave it.

I was the Afternoon Gardener (not nearly as mysterious - sidekick material?), and I was all sweaty and dirty after an hour of weeding. The weeds I was pulling up were the kind that grow really tall and put their roots down deep so they can't be pulled up. Now my back is sore today, but there's more to be done! Shtoopid weeds.
