Dear Facebook:
I’m Breaking up with you. We’ve had some good times, but I’ve come to realize that you’re no good for me. Sure, I’ll miss you, and all the connecting and interfacing that we’ve done. But who am I connecting with? These so-called ‘friends’ are not. They are just people I know. And I don’t know them, as in KNOW them, I just know who they are. And here I am checking their status, liking their comments, and I tell my 2-year old I will read to her later. It’s not right. I don’t like who you’ve turned me into. Oh, I will miss you though, and you’re games. Ahhhh your sweet seductive, time wasting games. I would tend and nurture a virtual crop, and take time away from my reality crop; raising children. You are a time sucker. I was getting sucked in to spending all of my spare time in your virtual reality, and missing out on my actual life. And spending time with the actual people in my actual life. If I could have back all the time I’ve spent on you, I could have all my Spring Cleaning done, learned a new language, know all there is to know about homesteading. Instead, I raised fake crops, and liked thoughts of people I am not invested in. As I said, you are no good for me. I choose real life over the virtual one you offer.
