Lazy Sunday

That’s what we had.

The kids are still fighting bad colds/flu, so we decided to stay home from church today.
We all stayed in our jammies.
I did not get dressed all day.

It was awesome.

I did all kinds of research into chickens, and the kids played or watched movies.
I was in the middle of studying brooder plans,
when I here a commotion in the other room,
and Emma yelling at me to come take a picture.

This is what I found:

Emma fixing what he wrecked as he tried to escape the camera.

He doesn’t mind Emma doing it, but doesn’t want anyone to know…..

His sour face.

Nathan is an awesome brother.
He will play Barbies with Emma all day.
(Although HE doesn’t use a Barbie.  He uses a Bionicle.)

It’s a tad bit more manly.
Very often Quin and Emma fight over Nate.

On Monday Quin was upset because he wanted to play soccer with Nathan, and Nathan was playing Barbies with Emma.  And had been all day.  I had to give a big speech about sharing Nate.
And how Nate had to play with both kids equally.

Nathan came to me yesterday and said, “You know, I’m really lucky because everyone wants to play with me.  I always have somebody to play with.”
A classic middle child.

Which he kinda is, because the first three are all 20 months apart,
and between Emma and Ava is 31/2 years.
Poor Ava.
No one wants to play with her.
But Nate?
Nate has it made.
He does creative make-believe stuff with Emma,
and rough and tough sport stuff and Lego with Quin.

Today Emma was upset ‘cause Nate played sock hockey with Quin, and he had promised to play Barbies with her.

I reminded her that Nathan DID let her do his hair.
And then advised that she play Barbies with Ava.
She doesn’t like playing with Ava, because she just bangs the Barbies around
and doesn’t actually imagine anything.
But I reminded her that Ava is going to grow, and pretty soon she’ll be old enough to properly play, and so Emma should start teaching her now.

One thing Ava does do is copy.
She let Emma do HER hair too,
and then came to me saying,
“Tate a pitcher ME!”
So I did.

  2. Nate is a great brother! He's also very lucky to have so many family members who think he's wonderful. (which he is!)

  3. That's so cute! I remember fighting over Linda with Daniel. More often than not we'd all play together, but sometimes I'd want to play something more girly with stuffed animals or something, and Daniel wanted to play outside, and Linda would be torn. Not really, she usually picked Daniel. Not bitter about that at all.

Cute pictures! Nate's such a good sport. :)

  5. Awesome. And yes, Ava will learn. Little sisters are annoying, but end up being great. :)
