Sick

It started Wednesday with a runny nose.

Thursday, sore throat and swollen glands.

But I fought.  I fought hard.

Friday, tired and muscle aches,

but that could have been from the removal of the Chicken Shack.

Today, it’s got me.

I have lost the battle.

My throat is so sore that I can hardly swallow.

I have a splitting headache.

And everything hurts.

I’m not a good sick person.  I HATE it, and it makes me grumpy.

It enlarges the feelings of failure, of not being the best Mom I can be, that is always niggling at the back of my mind.

Because I’m too tired to do what I know I should.

But today, I’ve decided to give myself a break.

We are having a lazy day, everyone is going to get a turn having a nice long soak in the tub this morning,

this afternoon Ava and I are going to nap while the older kids cuddle under blankets and watch movies.

Then maybe we’ll read stories till supper, eat, and watch more movies.

I’m not going to stress if the house isn’t perfectly clean.

I’m not going to stress that I have five loads of laundry that needs to be done.

I’m not going to stress that I missed two days of teaching the kids this week.

I’m not going to stress that I didn’t do a beautiful Easter Party for my kids, like other, better, Mothers.

Today, I have given myself permission to be lazy.

Tomorrow is a new day.

I can start stressing again then.

  1. Hooray for giving yourself permission! Sometimes you need to do that when you're sick. :)

Watch those movies! Have that nap! Go go go!

  2. We're on the same schedule, I think! Well, almost. I started feeling sick on Wednesday, worse Thursday, then full blown cold on Friday. Today is slightly better. So hopefully tomorrow you will feel slightly better, too! :)

Your plan sounds good to me. I rented a movie and bought something very easy for supper, and we are just going to VEG. :)

  3. You are allowed to be sick once in a while. Government says AT LEAST 15 times a year. ;p

  4. Being sick sucks.

I woke up today with an extremely sore throat, but I think it might be from an extremely dry house.

The rawness is somewhat appeased as I sip my morning coffee.

  6. Sarah didn't tell the whole story. She was too sick to come for a visit, but not to sick to visit the LCBO. :D

I am sorry that you are all sick. It stinks, doesn't it?

Give yourself permission to take it easy until you are better! And I sincerely apologize for passing on the stress genes. Sigh.
