Pretty soon,

You will be able to call me the crazy CHICKEN lady,

instead of just crazy.

I have been wanting chickens for a long while, and it finally looks like it will happen!  I’ve found a home for them.  The Chicken Shack.

I will have layers, and I’d like to find a heritage breed, with unclipped beaks.  Do you know you can’t buy any layers around here that don’t have clipped beaks!?!
Ridiculous.
I want my chickens able to peck.  And chase and eat bugs.

I will also have fryers.  Meat birds.
And they will not be fed corn, which my whole family is allergic too.

The all-wise Adeena has figured out a barley blend will do it.
With a healthy side of maggots.

Want to know how to get maggots to feed your chickens?

No, you don’t.

Tomorrow I go to pick up my Chicken Shack,

a wood shed 16x8,

free to a good home.

Well, I promised it a good home, and so we go to disassemble.

We is two of my brothers, (the good ones;p),

my marvelous brother-in-law,

and me.

There may be a few more, but we are not yet certain.

I just spent 2 hours cooking for this great hoard of men.

Fried chicken, with 3 different dipping sauces,

potato salad,

chocolate-peanut butter cookies,

cantaloupe,

clementines,

and I think that’s it.

You see, the secret to keeping men working,

in my family anyway, is to feed them.

And buy them booze when the job is done.

So, it’s 11:06, I have to be up in 7 hours,

I’m going to bed.

To dream about chickens.
